WCC 6/52 - Under the Moon

Now this weeks critter is an interesting one!

Here we have (I thought!!) a cute little owl sitting under the moon. He is fine silver made using Art Clay Silver and has 2mm orange cubic zirconium eyes.

BUT - I posted him onto Facebook and everyone was seeing a green man/ grumpy man with a moustache!! Do you see him? I really struggled till someone told me exactly how he was, and now I see him!!

It just goes to show - we should always have our eyes open to all interpretations in life :)

Anyway on the basis of this being an owl...
here is his poem...

In the dark of the night
Under the moon
He sits on his branch a hooting

But when the sun rises
He will be gone
Back to his nest a roosting

I would love to know what you see when you look at this!!

Have fun!

Bird a Month 11/12 - Night Owl

Here is my Bird a Month for November. I know I have done owls before but everyone keeps asking so I thought I would make another, and he is a variation on a theme ;-)

He has bright yellowy orange eyes and an alert look!

This little fine silver pendant measures about 26mm in diameter and the reverse is set with a lovely little orange CZ.

I am currently updating my Etsy shop and adding new things all the while, and this little guy is already there!

Updating the shop on my website is my next job.

Only one more bird now for the end of the challenge. It is time to start thinking about next years challenges. Any ideas?

Bird a Month 6/12 - Twit Twoo

Twit Twoo!! My cute little solid silver owl sculpture is my Bird a Month for June. I am very excited about this one as my step by step tutorial for making him is the the newest issue of Metal Clay Artist Magazine which is just coming out. It is the third anniversary edition of MCAM Vol 3 Issue 3 and it includes some wonderful projects including Lesley Messam and Gordon Uyehara, and a great article about Wanaree Tanner who is producing some fantastic work at the moment!

Even better - I also have a feature piece in it about undertaking challenges!! If you do not already subscribe you can buy an issue via the website and here in the UK it will be available in W H Smith soon :)

Above is another piece I have made for the Guild of Enamellers exhibition in Whitby in July - I have called him Tropical Tree Frog :)

I just seem to keep enamelling rainbows at the moment and the set below, Swirling Rainbows, are also for the exhibition.

Tomorrow I shall be at the Riverdell Country Fair at Burwash in East Sussex. It should be a great day.

Maybe I will see you there?

Bird a Week 40/52 - Having a Hoot!

As promised here is the second bird for this week so I am now totally back up to date with my Bird a Week Challenge.

I am in a bit of a comical mode at the moment and I really enjoyed making this one. As I played around with the wires for the owl I could get all kinds of comical faces and was sitting giggling away. Lovely to be enjoying my work so much!!

The back is a geometric design so the piece can be worn wither way round.
