If you are into enamelling and you are a member of the Guild of Enamellers then you should of received your latest journal with all the info about the annual conference. This year it is in Nottingham from April 9th-11th. The conference always books up fast so don't forget to send your booking back ASAP! This year it is going to be a great conference with a terrific line up of workshops and even includes an Art Clay Master who is flying in from Japan for the conference. He will be running a workshop on enamelling with Art Clay silver as well as giving the Masterclass. How exciting is that!

Eternity

This is the sixth piece that I entered to the Guild of Enamellers. It was sort of Egyptian inspired. The sunburst and scarabs beetles are all symbols of resurrection and life with the eye of Horus on the back for protection. Hence the name Eternity. The little scarab beetles were a real challenge to enamel. I wanted to get a lifelike look (they were moulded from real beetles - dead of course!!) and used mica lustre powders fused to the surface to get some of the iridescence of the actual beetles. It is on a handmade silver chain.

Galatic Purple Necklace

Ok, so this is the fifth piece that I entered to the Guild of Enamellers. (If you don't know what I am talking about read the posts below to see :-)). You would never guess I am a trekkie and Star Wars fan would you!

It is a reversible pendant and the centre is enamelled in Soyer Mid Purple and Light Purple with silver flakes and silver balls fired into the surface. After I made the piece Laura Sparling (the most talented lampwork bead artist I know) very kindly made me some terrific beads to go into my handmade silver chain by matching the lighter purple.

The sixth piece and final is coming soon!
